Society of Professional Accountants of Canada (SPAC)

 

The Registered Professional Accountant (RPA) is a Canadian accounting designation granted by the Society of Professional Accountants of Canada (SPAC). The designation requires passing a set of four exams including Taxation, Accounting, Finance and Auditing and a completion of University or College courses set by the Society.

The RPA designation is recognized by the Ontario Civil service, Ministry of Education and Training Ontario and Management Board of Cabinet of Ontario for employment purposes.

Admission as a RPA into the Society is also offered to those holding recognized accounting designations including the Associate (AMA) and Certified (CMA) professional qualifications of the ICMA (Australia). Applicants must undertake a recognized Canadian Income Tax course at the Canadian Community College or a Canadian University, prior to applying for the RPA designation. There is a non-refundable application fee.

Those holding the RPA designation from SPAC are recognized for admission as Associate members (AMAs) of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia on the payment of the application fee, the joining fee and the annual membership fee.

For RPAs to obtain full CMA credentials they must undertake the CMA program at an Accredited University; or Recognised Provider Institution or Online.
